Faith versus Belief

More often people advise us to have faith in God. What is this faith? I do believe in His existence. I do not follow the rituals traditionally, but yes I do love Them in my own way. I know HE is the guiding force. But isn't faith accepting the decisions without questioning. Is it really possible for us to surrender to His decision? By questioning His decision, do I become an atheist? I do believe Him , but not enough complete faith in accepting the decisions He makes are the right ones.

Am I an ethiest?? May be chitu. I don't believe just going to temple every day is gonna change. Its only a personal satisfaction. I usually go with pray to ur parents who worked ahrd for you and thaz where it starts and continues. God exists in the name of them and thaz why we have to respect elders even if we disagree sometimes.

All you need Chitra, is that faith that god is doing everything in the best interests for your soul. It`s tough to think that way, but that`s a test for your faith.

With Best Regards,
Srijith.

oh, this topic is of so much interest to me that i could keep talking/writing about it for hours.

sw.chinmayananda says 'faith is to believe in something we don not see, so that we see what we believe in'. the beauty of hinduism, as compared to many other religions is that while in most religiong a faith in a certain god concept is mostly the end, the sanatana dharma says faith is merely the beginning. from there on, it goes on to show us ways of translating this faith into experience. thats teh beauty of mysticism.

also, we tend to think of god as some 'entity' that sits up there and judges us, and steers our lives towards this or that based on those judgements. i personally feel that is a narrow understanding of god. that would make Him merely human - prone to bias and judgement. if He is God, then He must definitely be beyond all that - a much larger entity, no?

prayers and best wishes.

I have questioned god many times and I don't think it makes me an athiest.Sometimes it is hard to accept things blindly.I guess I don't have that blind faith.I believe there is a God who is our creator and I pray.

i never understand this stuff. I believe in Mother Nature and i refer as HER and not HIM but dont have faith that SHE makes decision. SHE is a mother nature a force of mystry that we are not able to comprehend but bringing myths to give a image and glorify HER existence but no decision SHE makes. We make and when it goes against our desire we pass the bug on her because we are afraid of questioning ourself.
